Another Aqua water price increase! Today is the last day to comment.

Today is the last day to protest yet another rate hike by Aqua North Carolina. As is their usual pattern, they ask for a large increase, often almost 20% and then negotiate using their attorneys to get a still onerous increase. The 19% increase would raise the average bill by $200 a year. They are currently trying to get about 7% in a compromise worked out with the commission staff, many of whom used to work for utilities. That would mean on average another $3.00 a month for all of us.

Update about letters that went out regarding mold/algae and pressure washing!

Residents who were informed of violations this past month for mold/algae on their homes will have until the end of April to take the necessary corrective action.  We had a slight communication “oops” with Kornerstone and apologize to all who received letters.

Please contact Kornerstone if you don’t have power washing equipment or choose not to do it yourselves and don’t have anyone lined up to do the work. They will be able to recommend contractors for you.

Any McKenzie residents who do this sort of work are welcome to call Kornerstone to put their name on the list.
